Coastal Carolina Adaptive Sports and Recreation will host a Wheel to Surf event Saturday, September 12.
Brock Johnson is a disabled surfer to helped start the program on the Grand Strand. Several years ago, he was paralyzed after a diving accident. Through the use of a special adaptive surf board, Johnson is able to ride waves by holding onto the board.
The Adaptive Surf Project, which Johnson is part of, helps provide those boards for the Wheel to Surf program.
Anyone can take part in Saturday’s event. It begins at 9 a.m. in Garden City on Holly Avenue.
