MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – More than two dozen people gathered for a candle light vigil Saturday for Baby Grace.
Horry County Police found the 5-month-old’s body last Thursday in a creek in Socastee, after a two day search.
People attended the prayer vigil at the Calvary Bible Church to honor Baby Grace and first responders.
Prayers were delivered and people were given the chance to share their feelings on the loss.
Those who put the vigil together hope it offered some closure for the community.
“You hear something so tragic and it breaks your heart and I just felt like there was a need for the community to find some peace in this,” said Stephanie Cutler, who helped put on the vigil.
Cutler also started the Facebook page, Prayers for Baby Grace.
Baby Grace’s mother, Sarah Toney, told police she took her in the water and she slipped out of her hands.
This week authorities charged Toney with homicide by child abuse.
She has another court date next month.
