SCOTLAND COUNTY, NC (WBTW) – Scotland County deputies have arrested a man they say broke into a Laurinburg home, stole valuable items and then set the house on fire before leaving.

According to Sheriff Ralph E. Kersey, investigators arrested Antron Lamont Collins, 32, for reportedly breaking into a home on Appaloosa Court in Laurinburg, NC, on October 31. Collins stole several items valued at more than $1,700 and then set the house on fire, adds Sheriff Kersey.

The majority of the stolen items have been returned to the home owner.

Collins had been wanted by probation and parole and was considered a fugitive at the time of his arrest Friday. Collins was taken to the Scotland County Detention Center, confirms Sheriff Kersey. Additional warrants are expected to be served on another suspect in this case for possession of stolen property in the next few days.

Collins is charged with one count of second degree arson, one count of breaking and entering, one count of larceny after breaking and entering, one count of larceny of a dog, one count of damage to real property and probation violation.
