SCOTTSVILLE, Ky. (WKRN) — The wife of the man police believe raped and killed a 7-year-old girl spoke to News13’s sister station, News 2, claiming her husband is “not that kind of person.”

Jodi Madden has been married to Timothy Madden for 10 years and they have two children together.

She told News 2 there is no way he could have committed the crime.

“We know it’s not true, he’s not that kind of person,” said Madden. “He would never put his hands on a little girl and molest her.”

Kentucky State Police believe Timothy Madden raped, sodomized and then strangled 7-year-old Gabbi Doolinat a little league football game. Madden was there for his son, Doolin was there with her parents to cheer on her brother.

Around 7:45 p.m., Doolin was reported missing. Less than 30 minutes later, she was found in a creek behind the football field.

DNA found at the scene matched Madden.

On Friday, the same day as Madden’s arrest, Doolin’s dad posted a statement on Facebook without naming names.

It said, “please justice, take over for my baby. I love her so much. This animal should not be walking and breathing.”

Madden’s family said that post isn’t for him.

“He’s an excellent father and a great husband,” his wife said. “I know he didn’t do it.”

Madden has a hearing scheduled on Monday, Nov. 23.
