PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – The search for a man who fell into the Waccamaw River while completing work on a dock in a Pawleys Island neighborhood and never surfaced has been called off for the night, according to Chief Doug Eggiman of Midway Fire Rescue.
According to Public Information Officer Carrie Weaver, around 3 p.m. Monday afternoon Georgetown County Sheriff’s Deputies were notified that a man performing construction repairs on a dock in Hagley Estates fell into the water and did not surface.
Chief Doug Eggiman of Midway Fire Rescue says the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Marine Patrol, along with the United States Coast Guard Station Georgetown and Midway Fire Rescue Water Rescue Division, are involved in the search for the man, who has not been identified, who fell into the Waccamaw River in Pawleys Island.
Emergency crews halted their search around 5:30 p.m. Monday and will resume looking for the missing man Tuesday morning, confirms Chief Eggiman.
