A video created by the department depicts Dr. Seuss character, The Grinch, showing up on the doorstep of a Myrtle Beach home, snatching purses and stealing Christmas gifts. The police department created the entertaining video to give holiday shoppers and travelers safety tips on protecting themselves, and their purchases.
“Myrtle Beach Police presents: Don’t Get Grinched!” warns neighbors:
- If you have an alarm: set it while away or asleep

- Don’t display gifts where they can be seen
- Be wary of strangers soliciting for charitable donations

- Check your credit and bank statements regularly for fraud
- Always be aware of your surroundings while shopping
