Myrtle Beach Police Officer responds to shots fired while on patrol duty

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- According to a police report, a Myrtle Beach Police officer was bicycle patrolling the area of Oak and Maple Street Saturday night and heard a gunshot in the area of 600 block of Maple Street.

The report goes on to state the officer searched the area of 605 Maple Street and was unable to locate any evidence of a shooting as the vehicles parked outside of the apartments were undamaged and the area was quiet. The officer reports hearing two more gunshots just a few minutes later south of 6th Avenue North on Maple Street.

The officer began heading south and observed a white or silver Ford Taurus North on Maple Street the officer observed a third shot fired from the rear driver side window. The police report states the muzzle flash indicates the handgun was pointed upward when the weapon was discharged.

Police say the vehicle stopped for a stop sign at 6th Ave North and all the lights on the vehicle were turned off and then the vehicle suddenly turned east toward North Oak Street. Police say the vehicle accelerated to higher than 50 miles per hour disregarding all stop signs driving recklessly to Chester Street.

The officer reports observing a dark skinned male wearing a blue and white plaid shirt in the driver seat turning right onto 6th avenue south.

Multiple officers responded once the vehicle was described, but were unable to locate the suspect’s vehicle. Officers were not able to locate any shell casings or damages
