MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) Christmas trees have a simple formula that is replicated in homes all over the world.
Lights+Ornaments=Holiday Magic.
That’s not quite the case down on the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk
“It’s our brand, this is what we do,” Ripley’s Believe it or Not General Manager Pablo Chavez said. “It’s been great when people see it. It’s going to get a lot weirder then this.”
That weirdness is a Christmas tree or as Ripley is calling it an “Odditree”. Flanked by a lizard man staning guard as a holiday sentinal the upside down decoration is pure Ripley’s.
“We have a two headed pig, a two headed cat a chicken a sock,” Chavez said. “We are looking to build this up into something we can do every year and people actually want to come see because it’s going to be so weird.”
The new decoration is becoming a community project.
“Anything weird that they have around their house, as long as it can be hung on a tree they can bring it in,” Chavez said.
Ripley’s Attractions on Ocean Boulevard is offering a $6 admission for each guest that brings in an Oddament (Odd-Ornament) through December 31, 2015. If a school-aged child, brings in their current report card with an Oddament they receive $1 admission.
The discounted admission is good at any of the 3 Ripley’s Myrtle Beach Ocean Boulevard Attractions – Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Odditorium, Ripley’s 5D Moving Theater and Ripley’s Marvelous Mirror Maze. (Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach is not included)
“The oddament can be homemade or bought, but must be able to hang on our Odditree,” says Chavez.
