SAN DIEGO (AP) — A San Diego judge has sentenced a pediatric nurse to 80 years in prison for molesting a 2-month-old boy and making lewd photos of a baby girl.
U.S. District Judge John Houston on Monday sentenced 52-year-old Michael Lutts to the statutory maximum 80 years in prison for sexually exploiting a minor.
Houston called Lutts the “worst of the worst” and said the sentence was meant to send a message.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Alessandra Serano had urged Houston to hand down a 65-year prison term.
Lutts had pleaded guilty to the charges. His attorney could not be immediately reached for comment.
Prosecutors say Lutts molested and took lewd photos and videos of the boy and took lewd photos of an 11-month-old girl after they were placed in his care last year.
