According to the incident report, officers attempted to pull over 35-year-old Charles Justin Meyers after he was caught spinning the tires of his vehicle on Highway 17 and driving 56 miles per hour in a 40 mph zone. Officers note Meyers could be seen swerving across traffic lanes, and when the driver turned onto Hillside Drive, officers turned on the blue lights and attempted to stop Meyers around 9 p.m. November 29.
Meyers drove a few more blocks and turned into a driveway to a home on Hillside Drive, the report states. As the officer approached Meyers’ car, he could see a female getting out of the passenger side and a “child in the rear passenger’s side.”
Once Meyers was detained, he was taken to the North Myrtle Beach Police Department where he failed two sobriety tests and blew a .18 when given a breath test. Meyers is charged with DUI, child endangerment, and failure to stop for blue lights.
