WILSON- Former NFL Hall Of Fame linebacker Harry Carson returned to the Pee Dee Tuesday to present a golden football to Wilson High School.

It was a part of the NFL’s Super Bowl High School Honor Roll community. The initiative celebrates schools that have contributed to Super Bowl history.

The honor roll platform links the past 49 Super Bowls with this year’s game and honors the high schools and communities that have positively impacted the game of football. Nearly 3,000 players and head coaches, and more than 2,000 high schools, will be recognized this season.

Carson played for the New York Giants, and is from the Florence area. He said it was important to him to return home to deliver the football in person.

“I did not want it to be a simple thing where the NFL would mail a football and you open the package and that’s it I wanted to come here and present the football because this is a part of my life this is a part of my legacy,” Carson said.
