McBee man jailed for attempted murder after Hartsville shooting

DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – A McBee man is behind bars Wednesday night after deputies responded to a shooting off Pacolet Drive in Hartsville Tuesday.

Sheriff Wayne Byrd with Darling County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to the 1600 block of Pacolet Drive in Hartsville Tuesday for a reported shooting. Deputies were able to locate the vehicle the suspect was driving where they found a handgun, marijuana and schedule II and schedule IV controlled narcotics.

Andrew Maxwell Deese, 21, of McBee, was charged with attempted murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule IV controlled substance, simple possession of marijuana and driving under suspension. Deese is currently in the Darlington County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing, adds Sheriff Byrd.

Deputies did not comment on a motive for the shooting or the victim’s condition.
