MYRTLE BEACH (WBTW) — Horry County Police and Horry County Fire Rescue divers were investigating a reported carjacking and assault by searching for a pond in Myrtle Beach on Friday morning.

According to police, a man reported that he was assaulted and his car was stolen from Club Faces on Tuesday, December 1.

A police report states police first made contact with the victim the next day at an area hospital. The victim told police he was waiting in the parking lot of Club Faces to meet a woman when a male got into his vehicle and pointed a handgun at his face. The man told police he was pushed out of the vehicle and beat on the head with the gun. The victim told police several men stole his wallet and keys.

He said the assailant then drove his car into a pond along 10th Avenue North. The police report states he was forced at gunpoint to enter the pond area. When the suspects fled, the victim says he crawled out the pond and walked to the Myrtle Beach Police Department for help.

Dive teams and police officers spend time in the area trying to find the pond on Friday.
