Have You Heard, actor Dick Van Dyke turns 90 years old today (12/13).
Van Dyke served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War Two and then used his many talents to make a name for himself on stage, in film and in television.
Van Dyke has earned five Emmys.

Larry Doby was born in Camden, South Carolina, 92 years ago today.
Like Van Dyke, Doby served our country in World War Two.
However, he went down in history as the first black player in the American League, debuting with the Cleveland Indians 2 1/2 months after Jackie Robinson broke the color line with the National League’s Brooklyn Dodgers.
Doby led the American League in both home runs (32) and runs batted in (126) in 1954, when Cleveland had one of the most-dominating teams (111-43) in major league history.
Cleveland lost the World Series that year to the New York Giants but won in Doby’s second season, 1948, beating the Boston Braves.
That year, Doby became the first black player to hit a home run in a Series game and, along with teammate Satchel Paige, became the first black players to earn a World Series ring.
After his playing days, Doby managed (the second African-American to do so) and served in the major league front office.
Larry Doby died in 2003 at the age of 79.

Cathy Garver played “Cissy” in the sitcom Family Affair (1966-1971).
She turns 70 today.

Woodrow Wilson arrived in France 97 years ago today, becoming the first sitting U.S. President to visit Europe.
Wilson went to France for World War I peace negotiations and to promote his plan for a League of Nations, a plan that failed.
The strain of his efforts took a toll and, less than a year later, a stroke virtually incapacitated him for the final year of his presidency.
Wilson died in 1924, at the age of 67.

Singer/songwriter Ted Nugent is 67 today.

The Susan B. Anthony dollar was first released 37 years ago today (12/13/1978).

Today is “World Choral Day.”
