CHERRY GROVE, SC (WBTW)- Supporters young and old showed up Tuesday to support Dr. Ben Carson’s campaign at Boulineau’s Food.
“I like to come out and see him up front and face to face,” said voter Bob Richmond.
Instead of speaking to the crowd, Carson decided to take a more personal approach. The Republican candidate shook hands, signed autographs and took photos with dozens of supporters.
“It was really freaking cool just shaking his hand,”said Alex Delacruz. “I took a picture with him and was like whoa I just took a picture with a possible candidate.”
Carson also signed a few Christmas cards before answering some questions on camera. Speaking to South Carolina voters, Carson says he supports off shore drilling if it’s done safely.
“There’s is absolutely nothing wrong with that, this country has enormous resources,” stated Carson.
He also touched on gun control.
“We have a second amendment it’s there for a purpose, so the people can aid the government in case of a foreign invasion, but even more important so the people can defend themselves,” he explained.
According to his campaign’s website, Dr. Carson also stopped in the Charleston area Tuesday to speak with Lowcountry veterans.
