FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Residents along the Black Creek in Florence County should pay close attention to the rising water levels over the next few days.
According to the National Weather Service a Flood Warning has been issued for Black Creek beginning on Thursday.
As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Black Creek remains below flood stage (10 ft.) at 8.64 ft., but is expected to rise into minor flood stage Thursday afternoon. The current forecast has the creek cresting Saturday afternoon at 12.3 ft.
Florence County Emergency Management is currently monitoring the situation. We encourage residents who live near the creek to continue to monitor their surroundings and take any action they believe is necessary to ensure their safety.
As the creek levels continue to rise, residents should see floodwaters affect Creekside Dr. and East Black Creek Rd. with water nearing a few homes.
