COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Deputies in Ohio arrested a man Monday after they say he posted a Facebook video of himself driving while drinking alcohol.
According to Sheriff Zach Scott, police received a tip stating that a man was drinking and driving erratically all while filming himself and posting video to Facebook.
Dispatchers were able to identify the driver as Dustin L. Rittgers, 28.
Rittgers was eventually stopped in the area of State Route 665 and Hibbs Road. He was arrested and charged with OVI, OVI refusal, following too closely, marked lane violation and open container in a motor vehicle.
Sheriff Scott said, “This situation shows the power of social media. Social media led us straight to this suspect to stop him before he was able to hurt himself or others. Social media is another crime fighting tool we use to keep Franklin County residents safe.”
