MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Two Pee Dee area men were arrested Thursday morning by Horry County Police after they allegedly fired guns at a Myrtle Beach club following a fight.
Lieutenant Raul Denis says officers responded to a call regarding a fight at the South Island Bar, located at 2965 Fred Nash Boulevard, around 4 a.m. Thursday. During the fight, witnesses told police that one of the men went outside to a white GMC Yukon and retrieved a gun, came back into the club and starting firing shots.
According to an incident report from Horry County Police, witnesses heard 11 shots fired inside the building, and as officers were arriving on scene, bystanders said the two gunmen were firing rounds at the officers, yelling “[expletive] the police.”
Officers were able to stop the men before they fled the area, Lt. Denis states. The two handguns believed to be used in the shooting were found in a ditch near the SUV where police pulled over the suspects.
Shiron Thompson, 24, of Johnsonville, is charged with possession of a stolen pistol, possession of a firearm by a felon, unlawful carry of a pistol, and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
Rico Waterman, 22, of Hemingway, is charged with unlawful carry of a pistol, and discharging a firearm into a dwelling.
