Thursday, February 11 – 4pm:
A weak storm system with scattered light showers will move through tomorrow morning into afternoon. If there are any showers around in the morning, while temperatures are below freezing, they will fall as sleet, freezing rain, or even light snow. Precipitation amounts will be light… not much more than a trace, and the highest amounts will be less than 1/10th of an inch… but keep in mind that with freezing rain it does not take much to cause problems.
The scattered ice/snow/rain showers will start around 8:00 am. Along the coast, and in Georgetown and Williamsburg Counties, temperatures will already be above freezing, so any precipitation will be rain. Elsewhere it will be in the 20s and low 30s at 8am. The showers will continue until afternoon, but most places will warm above freezing by noon. Parts of Robeson County could remain below 32 until early afternoon, but will eventually warm above freezing.
This storm will move away Friday night, then another blast of very cold weather will move in for the weekend. Saturday night temperatures will fall into the teens across much of the eastern Carolinas.
