FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – Former Democratic President Bill Clinton spoke to hundreds inside the Smith Center at Francis Marion University Saturday night on behalf of his wife and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Clinton spoke to a room of more than 600 people. He spoke to those who attended for about thirty minutes. Clinton says if elected, Hillary Clinton would enforce direct democracy.
“We got to elect a president that will say I want to put people on the Supreme Court who will expand voting rights not shrink it. I want to put people on the Supreme Court who will read the constitution in a way that allows us all to be treated equally under the law and go forward together,” said Clinton
The former president touched on Hillary’s policies from improving conditions inside prisons to making college more affordable.
“We got to support not just four year college education but scale training programs with 3D printing and complex engineering,” Clinton added.
Clinton told people in the audience that his wife and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is a world-class change maker will make the best out of any situation.
“This is 2016, we do not have time to wait for you to get affordable healthcare to lock in the gains of the healthcare law and to move on to other business so that we can grow this economy,” Clinton explained.
Clinton also highlighted the efforts of South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley for the removal of the Confederate flag from statehouse grounds after the Charleston church shooting.
“South Carolina, after that horrible tragedy, gave the country an incredible gift because we got to watch democracy become alive again,” mentioned Clinton.
