MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)-The GOP race continues to heat up this morning as more candidates make their way to the Grand Strand. Today GOP presidential candidates Carly Fiorina and Mike Huckabee will be in Myrtle Beach. Mike Huckabee will hold event called “Huckabee Huddle with Veterans.”

According to his campaign spokesperson, Myrtle Beach is the second fastest growing region in the U.S. A good bit of the growth has to do with veterans retiring to the area. The closest VA is 83 miles away and veterans’ outpatient clinics have limited operating times.

Huckabee says the wait times are too long and the quality of care veterans get is inadequate. Today’s event is centered on veteran’s issues, especially focusing on better care at VA facilities.

According to his campaign, there is a push in Myrtle Beach for a VA hospital to be built soon. Congressman Tom Rice, Congressman Joe Wilson, speaker of the house Jay Lucas, representative Alan Clemmons, and medal of honor recipient James Livingston all support the bipartisan initiative.

If you want to hear Huckabee speak, he will be at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes this morning at 11:30.

Later this afternoon, the conservative leadership project will host a presidential forum on the rule of law and the U.S. Supreme Court. The forum features  Carly Fiorina and will be moderated by South Carolina attorney general, Alan Wilson. That forum is at the crown reef ballroom at 5:30.
