CONWAY (WBTW) – Sophomore Billy Cooke hit an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth to give Coastal Carolina a 5-4 win over defending national champion Virginia on Sunday afternoon at Springs Brooks stadium.
A crowd of 3,136 attended the game, which marked the largest on-campus crowd to attend a baseball game in Coastal Carolina history.
Andrew Beckwith pitched solid in relief for the Chants. He allowed no runs or walks through 4 1/3 innings and had three strikeouts.
The Chants will return to Springs Brooks Stadium next weekend (Feb. 26-29) to host the 17th Annual Caravelle Resort’s Baseball at the Beach.
