MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee visited the Grand Strand on Tuesday afternoon for an event called “Huckabee Huddle with Veterans”.
Around 50 people showed up to hear the former Arkansas governor speak at Marina Inn at Grande Dunes.
He says he planned to officially file as a candidate in South Carolina later in the day.
News13 asked Mr. Huckabee about the comments of Governor Scott Walker who dropped out of the Republican race last night and called on others with low poll numbers to do the same.
“It’d be easy for me to say that all of them should get out of the race except me,” Huckabee said. “I like that idea and if they’d like to take that suggestion I’d gladly accept. I have no intention on dropping out unless I get beat. That’s why I stayed in last time and ended up coming in second in the entire republican nomination process.”
According to his campaign today’s event was primarily focused on veteran’s issues. Huckabee answered questions from the crowd about a variety of subjects.
