The report said Tyler William Bryan, 3, was found with two plastic zip ties around his neck and burns across 100 percent of his body from the Dec. 11 fire.

Next to him was his mother, Kristy Bryan. The report said Kristy Bryan was found with “melted plastic pieces” around her neck that indicated strangulation.

The report said of her death, “the manner of death is suicide.”

Authorities previously had said the mother, Kristy Bryan, intentionally started the fire in a murder-suicide at 6205 Roles Saddle Drive. A second 3-year-old boy survived and was taken to UNC Hospitals.

The report said the two “interlocking zip ties” completely encircled the neck of Tyler Bryan. The report also confirmed that a gas can was found outside the master bedroom. The autopsy said the child was alive at the time of the fire.

There was no evidence of forced entry or struggle in the home, officials said previously.

The couple also had a third child, a girl, but police said she left for school just before the fire started.

Derek and Kristy Bryan started Ingenia Service Inc. in 2012, an engineering consulting firm based in Wake Forest.
