HARTSVILLE, SC (WBTW) – A three month long investigation by the Darlington County Drug Enforcement Unit has led to the arrests of two Hartsville men on numerous drug charges.

Sheriff Wayne Byrd says Michael Bernard McLeod, 52, of Hartsville was arrested February 26 on two counts of distribution of crack cocaine fifth offense and manufacturing crack cocaine.

Also arrested during the investigation was 74-year-old Edward Lawson, of Hartsville, on charges that also stemmed from the three month long investigation. Lawson was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana and two counts of distribution of marijuana within proximity of a school. Lawson was also charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, after he was found with 20 individually packaged baggies of marijuana on him when he was arrested on warrants for the other charges, Sheriff Byrd confirms.
