PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC (WBTW) – The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office arrested a county employee after he reportedly allowed an inmate to use his cell phone.

Public Information Officer Carrie Weaver says on Monday deputies arrested John Paul Lackey, 45, of Conway, for allowing an inmate to use his cell phone.

Weaver says deputies were called to Stables Park, located at 2400 Petigru Drive, in Pawleys Island around 4:30 p.m. on March 8 in reference to an indecent exposure call. A witness told deputies that they saw a black man in the ladies’ restroom showing his private parts.

After an extensive investigation, the deputies determined John Lackey, who is employed with the Georgetown County Facility Services Division, allowed a Georgetown County Detention Center inmate working with the Facility Services Division to use his cell phone. Lackey has been charged with one count of providing contraband to an inmate.

Lackey turned himself into the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office and was transported to the Georgetown County Detention Center. Lackey is currently awaiting a bond hearing.

William Dean Burden, 46, is currently incarcerated at the Georgetown County Detention Center. Burden has been charged with one one count of indecent exposure.

It is unclear if the incidents involving the cell phone and Burden reportedly exposing himself are related in any way other than occurring around the same time.
