SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – After leading officers on a police chase and ditching a stolen truck on the beach earlier this week, a Georgetown man is behind bars Thursday, according to police.

Adam Corbett Morris, 34, of Georgetown, has been arrested and charged with a string of burglaries and thefts that have occurred recently in the Town of Surfside Beach, Horry County, and Georgetown County.

Investigators with the Surfside Beach Police Department located a stolen vehicle being driven by Morris Thursday morning on South Ocean Blvd in Myrtle Beach. With the assistance of Myrtle Beach Police Officers, Morris was arrested and taken into custody without incident.

Morris has been charged by SBPD with vehicle larceny, burglary 2nd, receiving stolen goods, operating a vehicle on the beach, possession of stolen vehicle, reckless driving, fail to stop for blue light and siren, and obtaining goods under false pretense.

Some of these charges stem from an incident on September 21 in which Surfside Beach police officers attempted to stop Morris, who was driving a stolen truck, so they could question him about several burglaries that had occurred in the area, police say. Morris reportedly drove the stolen truck on the beach and ran from officers on foot.

Morris is also wanted by several other jurisdictions, and further charges will be pending. He is currently being held pending a bond hearing.

SBPD Chief Rodney Keziah stated “this is a prime example of agencies working together to arrest this individual. I commend all officers and agencies involved in this investigation for their dedication and professionalism.”
