Longs man jailed after beating teen with cable cord, police say

LONGS, SC (WBTW) – A Longs man was jailed after reportedly beating his teenage daughter with a belt buckle, cable cord and a rod, leaving the girl swollen and bruised, according to police.

An incident report from the Horry County Police Department says the victim, a 15-year-old girl, and her mother told police that the victim was beaten by her father after an argument over the teen telling a lie. The teen told officers that Jeremy Williams, 34, of Longs, hit her repeatedly with a belt buckle, cable cord and the rod from hanging blinds, the report states.

Police note within the report that the “victim’s injuries go beyond normal discipline,” and that the girl was visibly bruised, swollen, scratched, and cut on both arms and legs.

Williams was jailed Monday at 8:30 a.m. on one count of cruelty to children torture, deprivation. He was released approximately seven hours later on a $500 bond.
