Kingstree duo jailed after reportedly kidnapping man over drug debt

SALTERS, SC (WBTW) – Williamsburg County deputies arrested two people on kidnapping charges after they reportedly held a man against his will because of a drug debt owed to one of the suspects, deputies say.

Investigator Alex Edwards with the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office says deputies received a call in reference to a possible kidnapping or hostage situation around 2:09 p.m. Monday. The sheriff’s office worked with Kingstree Police Dpeartment, and South Carolina Highway Patrol in responding to a Salters business where the emergency call was made.

Deputies discovered the suspects, identified as Kiesha Demetra Mcfadden, 29, and Desmond Tymon Cooper, 27, both of Kingstree, traveling on McFarlin Street in Kingstree shortly after the emergency call was made. Investigator Edwards says a third person, the victim could be seen in the car as well.

According to Investigators, the victim, a 50-year-old man from Hanahan, was being held against his will because he owed Mcfadden $400 from a drug transaction. Mcfadden threatened numerous times to hurt the victim if he did not pay, according to Edwards.

Mcfadden is charged with kidnapping and assault and battery third degree. Cooper is charged with kidnapping.

Kiesha Demetra Mcfadden and Desmond Tymon Cooper will appear before a Williamsburg County Magistrate and will remain at the Williamsburg County Detention until a bond hearing can be scheduled. The investigation into this incident is ongoing, adds Edwards.
