Police arrest one, search for two more men in Gwen Drive murder

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – After a body was discovered in the back bedroom of a home in Myrtle Beach on March 27, Horry County Police have executed a search warrant, made one arrest and continue to search for two alleged killers.

Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County Police says officers arrived at a home on Gwen Drive in the Socastee area of Myrtle Beach around 11:15 p.m. Sunday, March 27 in reference to a shooting. Once inside, officers discovered the body of Tyrice Smalls, 36, of Myrtle Beach, in the back bedroom. Smalls had been shot, according to an Horry County Police incident report.

On April 4, Horry County Police Department and U.S. Marshals executed a search warrant at a home in Seagate Village, just outside of Market Common. Jesse Christopher Roberts, 24, of Myrtle Beach was arrested as a result of that raid.

Detectives obtained warrants charging Roberts with one count of murder and one count of felon in possession of firearm, confirms Lt. Denis.

Warrants were also issued for  Alex Devon Gourdine, 21, of Myrtle Beach, for murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and felon in possession of a firearm, and Tevin George Johnson, 23, of Little River, for murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Lt. Denis says Gourdine and Johnson have not been captured and are wanted by police. The alleged killers are considered armed and dangerous, adds Lt. Denis.

Roberts was arrested by Myrtle Beach Police in December 2015 and charged with leaving the scene of a crash, reckless driving, interference or hindering officers serving warrant, petit larceny and breach of trust. Roberts was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center December 12, 2015 and was released on $11,620 bond December 21.
