KINGSTREE, SC (WBTW) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported a car hit and killed a person in a wheelchair in Williamsburg County on Tuesday. Cpl. Sonny Collins reported the crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 52/Longstreet St., just north of the Kingstree city limit.
Collins said a person in a wheelchair was crossing the highway when a 1992 Honda Accord hit the wheelchair. The name of the person killed was not immediately available.
The driver of the car will not be charged because the person in the wheelchair was illegally crossing the road, Collins said.
