ST. GEORGE, SC (AP) – A prosecutor says Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet is expected to turn himself in on a charge of misconduct in office.
Multiple media outlets report that prosecutor David Pascoe said the State Law Enforcement Division issued a warrant against Nisbet for an incident in Summerville last month.
Pascoe said Nisbet is expected to turn himself in Friday. It was not clear if he has a lawyer.
The charge stems from an incident between Nisbet and his neighbor in which Summerville police said Nisbet pulled a gun on the neighbor Aug. 25.
Summerville police say the coroner said a neighbor, Leroy Fulton, had pulled a gun on a repossession worker.
Nisbet had requested a SLED investigation of the incident.
Misconduct in office carries a maximum sentence of ten years in prison.
