Reward offered in Marion County home invasion murder

MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) – An anonymous donor is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the murder of Manasses Paige, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

Marion County Coroner James Page says a single gunshot wound ended Paige’s life.

Marion County Sheriff Mark Richardson says Paige was at a home on Pee Dee Island Road with several people last Monday. Family members say he was helping to install a new appliance in the home when two men broke in. Shots were fired, and a bullet hit Paige in the chest.

Now, a week after Paige’s murder and just days after his funeral, the Sheriff says an anonymous donor offered the reward looking for answers. Many in this tight-knit community were glad to hear of the reward, and say knowing that there are killers on the loose makes them nervous.

“It is so upsetting because we just recently had this happen and no one has been held accountable for that,” said Jaqui Brown, who lives nearby. “It just makes you that much more nervous.”

Paige’s father and brother did not want to appear in front of News 13 cameras, afraid that whoever killed their son and brother might return to their home. When told about the anonymous donor giving a reward, Paige’s father said “it just goes to show how much people loved my son.”

Anyone with information that could help solve this case is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
