MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – The mother of a pregnant 22-year-old woman whose body was discovered lifeless in a vacant lot in Longs Monday morning says she has many unanswered questions.
“I remember her as very outgoing,” says Lisa Beiter of her daughter Shannon Nicole DiTillio, who was killed and body discovered in a remote area of Horry County. “A beautiful young woman. Very strong minded, strong willed.”
According to a police report, the owner of the land where DiTillio’s body was discovered came to the property Monday morning to get dirt when he saw her motionless body lying on the ground surrounded by blood. Without getting out of the vehicle, the witness turned the car around and immediately called 911.
Officers who responded to the scene say DiTillio was lying on her back with a blue bag to her left, and a black backpack and a red bag in the pond behind her body.

“The autopsy report came back that there was a bullet wound to the face, small caliber, and that’s all they know so far,” reveals Beiter of her daughter’s death.
Beiter says when she learned of her daughter’s death, she also discovered that her daughter was four months pregnant. The unborn child did not survive.
“At first it was like we didn’t believe it. I didn’t even know she was out of town. So, it was just a big shock,” recalls Beiter.
Lt. Bonner says DiTillio’s former boyfriend, Chris Kalb, was arrested on an unrelated charge in Brunswick County Wednesday night and a murder warrant has been issued for Kalb in DiTillio’s death. DiTillio and Kalb have a child together, adds Lt. Bonner, and DiTillio planned to see Kalb during her visit to Myrtle Beach.
“What I was told is that she went looking for her ex-boyfriend, Christopher,” says Beiter.
Beiter says detectives told her DiTillio took a bus from New York to Myrtle Beach, but what happened in the time between DiTillio’s arrival on April 7 to when her body was discovered April 11 is unclear. Lt. Bonner did reveal what evidence led them to seek the murder charge against Kalb.
“Nobody knows what happened in between. How she got from the bus station, 40 miles away to a remote property in the middle of nowhere,” says Beiter.
Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard says DiTillio’s death is being investigated as a homicide, but an exact cause of death was not released.
