MARION, SC (WBTW) A 12 year old child has died after a single vehicle crash on Highway 9 outside of Marion Saturday night.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol the vehicle was traveling North on “Number 9” around 9:54 p.m. when they went off the right side of the road and hit a fire hydrant before overturning and going into a ditch.
Marion County Coroner Jerry Richardson says the 12 year old passenger in the car died from injuries sustained in the crash. The 18 year old driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt according to SCHP.
