Parents praise cloth diapers lighter impact on environment and their pocketbooks

CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Dozens of parents came together in Conway Saturday for the 6th annual Great Cloth Diaper Change.

The international event is a way to raise awareness on the impact of diapers on the environment.

While there is debate on which type leaves bigger carbon footprint due to the elecrity and water it takes to wash cloth diapers; mom’s who came out said they feel good about their decision to stop throwing thousands of disposable diapers in the landfill.

“I actually had a few friends who were into it they kind of gave me the lowdown, then we did some research and we just found that it’s safer for the environment and a lot cheaper. I mean its kind of cute on their butts too all of the designs,” said Mindy York, a mom participating in the event.

The Great Cloth Diaper Change tries to set a varity of diaper changing world records all around the globe on the same day and tousands participate each year.
