CONWAY (WBTW) – Coastal Carolina defeated High Point 17-5 on Sunday afternoon at Springs Brooks Stadium.
Michael Paez and Connor Owings each hit their tenth home runs of the season. Paez was 3-for-5 with three runs scored while Owings (2-for-3) had three RBI and two runs scored and Tyler Chadwick was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Coastal hitters exploded in the second inning. For the 15th time this season, the Chants sent at least nine men to the plate in an inning and added four runs – all with two outs –to take a 6-1 lead in the second.
Andre Scrubb (6-4) suffered the loss for High Point. He allowed seven hits, 10 runs and eight walks in 2.1 innings with four strikeouts.
The rubber game of the series is tomorrow at 4pm.
