MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Senator Lindsey Graham’s presidential campaign stopped Monday in Myrtle Beach as part of Senator Tim Scott’s Town Hall meeting held across the state.
The latest poll, from the “Wall Street Journal,” shows he has zero percent support, but that didn’t stop one man who changed his travel plans when he heard Senator Graham would be in Myrtle Beach.
“Up in New Jersey and other parts of the country, we have been to events with other candidates, but we have not heard Lindsey Graham,” said Brian Wills.
Wills was on his way to a vacation in Florida, but ended up making a detour on the way. “We were that interested in hearing what he had to say on a personal level so we actually stopped into Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to see him.”
Graham used the opportunity to tell voters what he would focus on as commander-in-chief.
“We have too many terrorists. We have too much debt, and I want to create energy independence. Those three things would be at the center of my presidency,” said Graham.
He pointed to putting troops on the ground in the fight against ISIS.
“They’re large, they’re rich, they’re entrenched. On day one I’d come up with the plan to make them poor, small and on the run,” claims the republican presidential hopeful.
He touted a bipartisan approach to entitlement reform, “and see if we can find a way to save social security and medicare from bankruptcy.”
Graham also touched on why he sees the Republican party as inclusive to all citizens, saying the party offers “limited government, a strong national defense, a pro life party should be your party. You’re welcome in this party.”
Wills says he came away impressed by the message, “because they’re real solutions to real problems,” and was glad to make the trip.
Scott has invited all Republican hopefuls to take part in the hour-long sessions. Carly Fiorina is up next, scheduled to join Scott for a town hall on Friday in Aiken.
