COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – South Carolina’s annual law enforcement memorial ceremony will honor three officers who died in the line of duty last year.
The ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the state’s Criminal Justice Academy.
It will include a special tribute to Marlboro County Sheriff’s Deputy Delton Daniels, Forest Acres Police Officer Greg Alia and Columbia Police Officer Stacy Case.
Daniels died Aug. 1 from injuries sustained 11 days earlier, when the patrol vehicle he was riding in overturned.
Alia was fatally shot Sept. 30 after responding to a report of a suspicious person at Richland Mall.
Case died Nov. 7 after her patrol car collided with another officer’s vehicle while responding to a call.
Retiring Horry County Police Chief Saundra Rhodes will deliver the memorial message.
