Four Coastal Carolina basketball players missed Friday’s first practice after they were injured in a car accident on Thursday.
Coastal Carolina officials say Hartsville’s Jaylen Shaw, Marcus Freeman, Shivaughn Wiggins, and Ron Trapps were involved in a car accident on Highway 544 near campus.
The players sustained non life-threatening injuries. They were taken to the hospital and discharged Thursday night.
Three of the players suffered concussions. They will have to go through normal concussion protocol before they are cleared to practice. At least one player also suffered leg contusions.
The Coastal Carolina basketball team started practice Friday afternoon with just nine players.
