Have You Heard, today (10/16) is “National Boss’ Day.”

Dame Angela Lansbury turns 90 today.
Among her honors, three Academy Award nominations. She never won but did earn an honorary Oscar in 2013.
She also has 18 Emmy nominations without a win. And that’s despite 12 nominations for “Murder, She Wrote.”
However, Lansbury did win six Golden Globes and she has five Tonys. Only Audra McDonald has more performing Tony Awards than Lansbury.

Actor Tim Robbins has two Oscar nominations and one win (for “Mystic River”). He’s 57 today.

Texas A&M defensive coordinator John Chavis turns 59 today. Chavis is from Dillon, South Carolina.

The Million Man March (although some estimate the crowd at 400,000) on Washington took place 20 years ago today.

John Brown’s raid on a federal arsenal at Harpers Ferry, Virginia (now West Virginia), started 156 years ago tonight.
The attempt to lead an armed slave revolt ended in defeat two days later (10/18/1859). Brown and six of his fellow raiders were later hanged.

Brigham Young University was founded 140 years ago today.

One of the greatest (and in some polls, the greatest) American rock bands, Creedence Clearwater Revival, disbanded 43 years ago today.
Creedence had nine top-10 singles, five of which hit number-two. However, CCR never had a number-one single. Five #2s without a #1 is a “Billboard” record.

Today is also “National Feral Cat Day.”

You can see “Have You Heard” each weeknight after weather on News13 at 11:00.
