Man held on $1M bond in Brunswick County for child sex crimes

SUNSET BEACH, NC (WBTW) – A former Sunset Beach resident was arrested in Greensboro, NC Wednesday on numerous child sex charges.

According to Assistant Chief Joe Smith with the Sunset Beach Police Department, officers arrested 62-year-old Harold Robert LeClair Jr. at his home on Dumfries Road in Greensboro, NC Wednesday evening.

Detective Brian Bartlett worked with the Greensboro Police Department Sex Crimes Unit to arrest LeClair and charge him with 11 counts of sexual offence with a child and 10 counts of taking indecent liberties with children.

Allegations made against LeClair state the sexual crimes occurred between October 1, 2007 and March 6, 2008, while LeClair lived on Dogwood Drive in Sunset Beach, police confirm.

LeClair is being held in the Brunswick County Detention Center under a $1 million secure bond. The investigation is ongoing and may result in additional charges.
