PICKENS, SC – One person is dead and another has been charged with DUI after a fatal crash that happened at 12:50 a.m. Saturday in Pickens County.
The SC Highway Patrol says the crash happened on Latham Rd. The vehicle reportedly ran off the right side of the road and hit a utility pole.
The report from the SC Highway Patrol says Sydnee Adora Jones, 19 of Easley was the driver of that vehicle. She was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for her injuries.
According to the Pickens County Coroner’s Office Garrison Bryce Freeman, 20 also from Easley, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash due to blunt force trauma and was a passenger in the vehicle.
Freeman was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.
According to the Pickens County Detention Center, Jones was later charged with Felony DUI and is currently being held there without bond.
