ANDERSON, SC – 25-year-old Rusty Jason Edward Seawright is in custody after Anderson County Deputies say he attempted to steal a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe with a seven-month-old baby inside, Monday morning.
The Sheriff’s Office says the owner of the Tahoe left the car running as she took her daughter into the West Anderson Church of God for Pre-K when she heard loud bangs coming from the parking lot where she found the suspect getting into the driver’s seat and backing out of the parking space.
When a white van blocked the Tahoe from leaving the parking lot, Deputies say Seawright left the car and ran across the street where he was followed by witnesses and was later arrested.
Seawright is also suspected of stealing a 1997 Ford Expedition two hours earlier.
Seawright was charged one count of kidnapping and two counts of grand larceny. He is being held at the Anderson County Detention Center on $50,000 bond.
