FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – News13 hosted a special event Wednesday morning for area kids at the Southern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology building in Florence.
Treats for Special Kids is a Halloween event hosted each year by WBTW for special needs students from dozens of area schools. The students come in their best costumes to pick up candy and enjoy some Halloween fun in a safe and barrier free environment.

“So to be able to see these children and get close up with them, and they hug you and some of them want to kiss you and dance and sing with you, and it makes you feel awesome to be able to be a part of their fun day, their Halloween,” says volunteer candy giver Jennifer Kimbrell.
Children closer to the coast will attend another Treats for Special Kids October 30.
