Police say Yvonne Campbell stole thousands of dollars from the after school program at Forestbrook Elementary School where she worked.
Horry County School officials say Campbell worked for the district run “kid power” after school program since 1999′.
For 15 years, Campbell worked as the program director for Kid Power at Forest Brook elementary.
Police say over at least five of those years, she stole at least $5,000 in cash; money from parents intended for payments for the program.
The report says she only stole cash and would enter deposits made out in check.
It costs $60 a week to have one child enrolled in the program, an extra $50 for any siblings and there is a $30 registration fee.
Horry county school officials say they discovered the missing money after an internal audit was done, however they were unsure if the audit was due to the incident, or if it was a scheduled audit.
Campbell was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center last week.
Horry County School officials say she has been on paid administrative leave since September 1st.
News 13 requested the school district’s audit.
We are still waiting for the document to be sent to us.
We also checked with the solicitor’s office for any supplemental information on the case, but they tell us it could be months before they have any more documents.
News 13 also attempted to reach out to Campbell, but numbers listed for her online were no longer in service.
