FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – The Florence Chamber of Commerce kicked off its second annual Chili, Brews and Barbecue Festival Saturday on the 100 block of South Dargan Street in Downtown Florence.
The two day festival featured local and professional cooks statewide, in three cooking competitions; wings, chili and barbecue.
Saturday was the last day for the festival and for those who attended events like these is what keeps people coming back to Downtown Florence.
“People here in the downtown are doing a great job for our people. It gives them an opportunity to go out, something to do, enjoy the beautiful weather, taste the good barbecue, whatever is out here and it really builds community spirit,” mentioned Florence Republican Senator Hugh Leatherman.
Winning barbecue teams will take home $1,200 for first place, $800 for second place and $500 for third. Winning chili teams will receive $250 for first place and $150 for second.
Florence Chamber of Commerce President Mike Miller says there were more than 1500 people who came out to the festival.
