Have You Heard, today (11/4) is “Use Common Sense Day.”
American humorist Will Rogers once said “common sense ain’t common.”
Rogers was born 136 years ago today. He died in a plane crash in Alaska when he was 55.

The Iran Hostage Crisis began 100 years after Rogers’ birth.
Radical Iranian students took over the U.S. Embassy in Tehran and held 52 American diplomats and citizens for 444 days, releasing them at the exact moment Ronald Reagan took the oath of office.

Israel’s Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated 20 years ago today in Tel Aviv. He was 73.

93 years ago today (11/4/1922), English archaeologist Howard Carter and his crew discovered King Tut’s tomb.
It’s perhaps the best preserved tomb of a pharaoh ever found.

A fella from New Hampshire by the name of Benjamin Franklin Palmer received the first patent for an artificial leg 169 years ago today.

Four years before that (11/4/1842) Abraham Lincoln married Mary Todd.
At the time, Lincoln was a struggling lawyer and Mary was a young woman who came from a wealthy family.
He was 31. She was 21.
The marriage lasted 22 1/2 years.

Rapper, entrepreneur and actor Sean Combs and Academy Award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey both turn 46 today.

Emmy Award-winning actress Doris Roberts, best known for playing Ray Romano’s mother in “Everybody Loves Raymond,” turns 90 today.
