DARLINGTON COUNTY, SC (WBTW) – Fifteen students from Darlington High School and Darlington Middle School were on a bus traveling to designated stops when the bus caught fire Wednesday afternoon.
According to Darlington County School District Communications Specialist Christopher McKagen, all 15 students and the driver escaped the bus without injury. All students were transported home safely, adds McKagen.
McKagen says the bus driver did an excellent job of getting all of the students out of the bus safely. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The school district periodically conducts bus evacuation drills to ensure all divers and students know what to do in emergency situation such as this.
