MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- In the last year 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson closed nearly a dozen businesses under public nuisance violations.
One of those being The Gold Club off Highway 501 in Myrtle Beach. A new night club named Club Faces has now opened at the location with new owners to go with the new name.
The nuisance law allows the Solicitor to close the business for a year and Richardson said he believes things will be different this time around.
“It’s my understanding that this is not that type of a business but you know I’m not vouching for what this business will be. But a year has passed so it’s fine with the building coming back open.”
Richardson says his office doesn’t want to keep vacant buildings but make sure everyone is following the rules and these places are safe for the community.
“Because you don’t want to go into a business and take the chance of getting shot just because they may have lack security or there may be drug sales that sort of stuff,” Richardson said.
Club Faces has a sign on its doors with rules and a dress code that include no gang apparel or gang related attire and no do-rags. All steps in the right direction.
“I think they’ll be fine. If their not, if we start getting complaints that it’s either a general nuisance or lewdness or widespread then there’s a possibility we will come in with another nuisance action,” Richardson said.
